Landstar System has named Alane Serio as November employee of the month at the company’s Jacksonville, Fla. service center; and Larry Roe its November employee of the month at the company’s Rockford, Ill. service center.

Serio, who joined Landstar in 2002, recently was promoted to the position of satellite tracking coordinator. “Alane puts her heart and soul into her work,” says Tom Sawyer, trailer utilization supervisor. “She is admired by her co-workers, and her positive outlook rubs off on everyone.”

“Alane excels in providing service to our network of independent agents and business capacity owners, which is vital to Landstar’s success ,” says Henry Gerkens, Landstar president and chief executive officer. “She knows the meaning of teamwork and consistently delivers a high level of quality service.”

Roe, a presence at Landstar since 1997, was honored for his work as an automotive coordinator. Kyla Eastabrooks, automotive operations supervisor, says Roe plays an invaluable role in the department.

“Larry takes on every challenge that comes his way and more,” says Eastabrooks. “During his shift, he not only handles his regular assignments, but is also called on to handle tasks for other departments as well. He helped create a new form to streamline the reporting of customer service issues for several departments.”

“Larry works hard at whatever he’s asked to do,” Gerkens says. “His enthusiasm is contagious, and he’s a great example of Landstar employees who make our team strong.”

Landstar, a non-asset-based provider of transportation capacity and logistics services, is headquartered in Jacksonville.
