Karmak, a provider of computer and business management systems in the heavy-duty truck industry, recently announced the promotion of Jim Vanderpoel to director series manager, and the hiring of Francisco Perez as its new regional manager for Latin America.

In Vanderpoel’s new position, he will oversee the application support team for Director Series inventory and service shop management software. Since joining Karmak in 1999, Vanderpoel has held a variety of positions, most recently serving as internal trainer, where he instructed employees in nearly every Karmak product.

“Jim has extensive knowledge of all facets of our software packages and has shown responsibilities that make him an excellent fit for this position,” says Mike Kirk, director of customer services for Carlinville, Ill.-based Karmak.

Perez — who will oversee all of Latin America, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic — has been working with Karmak in a consulting capacity. He previously has served as dealer development and consulting manager for Kenworth Mexicana, S.A. de C.V.

“Francisco’s role is critical in accomplishing Karmak’s mission to expand its market in Latin America,” says Michelle Sawyer, the company’s manager of sales and service for Latin America.

Karmak supplies software applications to fleets; retailers that sell and service trucks, tractors and trailers; and retail and wholesale businesses that distribute parts. The company also provides continuing support to companies through software specialists working with customers in areas such as inventory control, service department management, accounting, and new and used truck sales. Karmak says it currently serves more than 1,800 locations throughout the United States, Canada and Latin America.
