Knight Transportation 1Q profit up 24 percent

Knight Transportation Inc. has reported first-quarter net earnings of $15.8 million, up 24 percent from $12.8 million during the year-ago period. The Phoenix-based trucking company posted first-quarter revenue of $149.1 million vs. $122.2 million during the year-ago period.

For the remainder of 2006, the company says it expects to continue to grow its fleet by 15 percent on a year-over-year basis.
