Vic and Sue Jones, team drivers from Kansas City, Mo., are the recipients of the ACS MultiMedia Trucker Buddy Driver of the Month award for July. The couple is leased to Con-way Now, a time-definite motor carrier belonging to Con-way Transportation Services Inc., and specializing in emergency ground, air and dedicated services throughout the United States and Canada.

Participating in the Trucker Buddy program for the past three years, the Joneses were paired this year with Deanna Reed’s second-grade class at Southport Elementary School in Indianapolis. The couple sent the children hundreds of postcards detailing their trips across North America and compiled a scrapbook for the class.

As they traveled, they sent interesting items such as tumbleweed from Oklahoma, Florida oranges, cotton from Georgia and Texas Ranger badges. They also sent the class a flag that was displayed on their truck when they drove in a huge convoy in Florida for the Special Olympics. In addition, Sue kept track of the questions and comments each child wrote throughout the year and then talked to each one personally about their questions.

Each Trucker Buddy Driver of the Month receives a personalized jacket, along with a check for $300 to spend on the class and $200 in Trucker Buddy merchandise. Drivers and teachers can find out more about the program by going to www.truckerbuddy.org.
