On Oct. 10, CAT Scale will open its 1,000th location at the Kangaroo Express truck stop on U.S. Highway 70 and New Bern Road in Kinston, N.C. The timing is appropriate, since the company will be celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2007, says Delia Moon Meier, senior vice president.

CAT Scale will mark the opening of the Kinston location with a ribbon cutting, as well as food and gifts for professional drivers. “This is a huge milestone for us,” Meier says. “When my father started this company in 1977, we had no idea that we’d be opening 1,000 CAT Scales with room to grow.”

In 1977, Bill Moon installed the industry’s first completely automated, full-length platform scale in South Holland, Ill. Today, CAT Scale operates in 45 states and four Canadian provinces.
