The American Trucking Associations has filed comments with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration in support of a petition by the Truck Manufacturers Association requesting the elimination of turbochargers from the list of equipment considered to be noise-dissipative devices.

The intent of the petition is to ensure that all heavy trucks are operated with mufflers, whether or not equipped with turbochargers, thus helping to ensure lower noise levels.
