The American Trucking Associations Highway Watch program announced today, Jan. 4, a promotional collaboration with Inside the Outdoors, the outdoor network for professional truck drivers that reaches thousands of drivers inside their cabs daily. Inside the Outdoors will assist Highway Watch in its efforts to enlist truck drivers by featuring training and recruitment information during its daily broadcasts.

Inside the Outdoors is the sole provider of hunting, fishing and outdoor programming for TEN, the Truckers’ Entertainment Network offered exclusively by IdleAire, a technology platform in truck parking lots across the country that addresses numerous industry issues, including idle elimination, driver retention/recruitment, driver wellness and training. The network provides a variety of entertainment options including television programming, movies, video on demand, high-speed Internet, gaming opportunities and phone services. IdleAire, which is in two fleet terminals and in 26 states, expects to be operating in more than 200 trucking locations in 35 states by mid-2007.

Highway Watch is a national safety and security program that utilizes the skills, experience and “road smarts” of America’s transportation workers to help prevent terrorists from using large vehicles or hazardous cargoes as weapons and to protect America’s critical highway transportation infrastructure. The program is administered by ATA under an agreement with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

“We’re proud to have Inside the Outdoors TV as a member of our Highway Watch team,” says Bill Jacobs, vice president of Highway Watch. “They will add tremendous value to this program, and we look forward to working with them on this very important safety and security initiative.”
