Less-than-truckload carrier Saia has announced a reduction in transit times from key terminals in Houston, Memphis, Tenn., and Houma, La. The transit time improvements, which are effective immediately, mean that Saia customers will receive a one-day improvement in delivery times – to one day – on freight moving between Houston and Memphis and from Memphis to Houma.

“As Saia continues to have success in the marketplace, we are able to build direct schedules and enhance service,” says Rick O’Dell, president and chief executive officer of Duluth, Ga.-based Saia. “Any time we improve transit times while maintaining a high level of on-time service, we offer customers another reason to use Saia.”

O’Dell says the one-day improvements demonstrate the carrier’s ongoing pursuit of excellence. “This announcement is also an acknowledgment of Saia employees who continue to elevate their performance on behalf of our customers,” he says. “Saia representatives review transit improvement opportunities throughout its coverage areas on an ongoing basis. Aggressive reduction of transit times is an ongoing initiative that continues to be a major focus for us.”
