Freightquote.com announced Monday, Jan. 8, that it has completed its acquisition of Rockwell Transportation Services, a Perkasie, Pa.-based transportation brokerage provider specializing in truckload, less-than-truckload and intermodal solutions for a wide variety of shippers. Terms were not announced.

“A primary component of our acquisition strategy is to add companies that will enable us to broaden and improve our existing service offerings,” says Tim Barton, chairman and chief executive officer of Lenexa, Kan.-based Freightquote.com. “Rockwell Transportation is a highly respected, rapidly growing brokerage known for providing outstanding service to its customers across the United States.”

Barton says Rockwell brings Freightquote significant value, including complementary geographic strength, vertical customer segment knowledge and new carrier relations. “These factors will ultimately benefit customers of all Freightquote companies,” he says. “Similarly, Rockwell customers will eventually benefit from the services and technology of Freightquote.”

“We’re truly excited about the awesome opportunity that Freightquote.com will provide for our employees and customers,” says Chris French, CEO of Rockwell. “The synergies between our two companies are significant.”

In 2005, Freightquote.com acquired Twin Modal, another transportation brokerage based in Minneapolis. Freightquote has continued to operate Twin Modal as an independent company and brand, and plans to follow a similar strategy with Rockwell. “Each brand has effectively served a specific customer segment, so we will continue to invest in these individual brands,” Barton says. Synergies will come in the form of sharing technology and administrative capabilities between the various brands, while the customer experience for each brand remains intact, he says.
