Tank and trailer manufacturer Beall Corp. announced this week the purchase of K&H Manufacturing, a builder of dump truck bodies and equipment based in Phoenix. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Beall, headquartered in Portland, Ore., sells more than 1,200 tank and construction trailers annually.

Beall’s 13 sales and service branches in the western half of the United States will become dealers for K&H products, and K&H’s two manufacturing and service facilities in the Phoenix area will be operated as a subsidiary of Beall, according to Jerry E. Beall, the firm’s chairman. Erik Davis, former K&H president, will become vice president and general manager of the new Beall operation. All K&H personnel will be retained in their current positions.

Beall says the K&H products will extend its line of construction products at a time when road construction projects throughout the West, particularly in California, are driving demand for new hauling equipment. Beall, which announced sales revenue of more than $100 million in 2006, is the third-largest manufacturer of bulk and tank trailers in the country and the largest manufacturer of custom tanks, with five manufacturing facilities, multiple sales and service offices, and more than 500 employees. Four generations of Beall family management have overseen the company that started in Portland in 1905.
