Wabash National announced today, March 16, that it expects first-quarter trailer sales of about 10,800 units, 1,000 units less than the same period in 2006. The company said first-quarter 2007 sales include about 1,200 platform trailer units sold by Transcraft, which was acquired on March 3, 2006.
Wabash said the decrease from the prior year reflects shipping delays related to inclement weather in the Midwest during February, and an increase in the number of units awaiting customer pickup, which it believes is a result of softness in the transportation sector.
