Benson International’s 524 aluminum drop deck trailer features a steel neck transition designed to allow a concentrated load capacity of 52,000 pounds in a four-foot span, as well as 80,000 pounds evenly distributed to allow for increased hauling capabilities.

Other drop deck features, according to Benson, include:

New plant making frameless dump trailers
Benson also announced that shortly after the one-year anniversary of production of platform trailers at its newest facility in Cadiz, Ky., employees there began building aluminum Inner Wall Technology (IWT) frameless dump trailers. As the company grows, additional products will be built at its new corporate headquarters. In the past, frameless dump trailers have been built exclusively at Benson’s facility in Mineral Wells, W.Va.

“As the company shifts product lines between facilities, Cadiz will gradually manufacture more product lines,” says Marvin Whitt, Cadiz plant manager. “I’m proud of these employees who have stepped up to the plate and are expanding theirs, and Benson’s, capabilities.”

Benson becomes MVP
The company also recently announced that it is among the 287 companies to date to achieve National Truck Equipment Association Member Verification Program status. MVP participants distinguish themselves by embracing the knowledge that is necessary to provide a high level of quality while meeting certain regulatory requirements. The program identifies business practices common to successful companies and promotes increased professionalism by helping commercial truck and transportation equipment industry firms build more profitable, mutually beneficial and longer-lasting relationships with their suppliers, distributors and customers.

Initially, MVP participants have been asked to verify to the association that they meet four out of five business processes and certain government criteria. Over time, NTEA will increase program requirements to encourage even higher standards through set criteria that must be met by distributor and manufacturer members in order to continue to qualify for MVP status; members must requalify every three years. A total of 287 members achieved MVP status as of Jan. 1; the program was first introduced to NTEA members in May 2005.
