C.H. Robinson posts 25.6% increase in 1Q income, higher revenue

Logistics provider C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc. said Tuesday, April 24, that its first-quarter profit rose 25.6 percent. The Minneapolis-based company — which earned $72.9 million, compared with $58.1 million for the same quarter in 2006 — said it was able to capture better margins in truck and intermodal transport.

C.H. Robinson also announced that its:

  • Total gross revenue rose 8 percent to $1.62 billion from $1.5 billion in the year-ago period;
  • Transportation revenue rose 7 percent to $1.3 billion;
  • Sourcing revenue increased 13 percent to $308.3 million; and
  • Information services revenue climbed 8.4 percent to $10.6 million.
  • The company said operating expenses rose 11.8 percent to $181.7 million, but as a percentage of gross profits, operating expenses fell to 61.2 percent from 63.8 percent in the first quarter of 2006.
