What’s better than one parade? Two parades

This year’s Transport for Christ Truck Parade and Truck Show, June 15-16 in Kidron, Ohio, is actually two parades: a parade of lights Friday night and a daytime parade Saturday.

Other highlights of the event include homemade ice cream, a chicken barbecue, a benefit auction and children’s activities. Rigs will be judged in more than a dozen classes, and registration is free.

“We are the only truck show in the world that has a mudslinger class,” says organizer Marcus Sommers of M. Sommers Trucking of Millersburg, Ohio. “Yes, three trophies for the dirtiest trucks. We want clean trucks, we want dirty trucks and everything in between.”

All proceeds from the event, to be held on the grounds of Central Christian School, benefit Transport for Christ, an international outreach mission for truck drivers. For more information on Transport for Christ, based in Marietta, Pa., visit its website at www.transportforchrist.org.
