Brenda Meacham, a truck driver for Carolina Southern Trucking, has been named the Trucker Buddy Driver of the Month for April 2007. On her birthday, March 26, 2006, Meacham gave bicycles to her classroom at Latham Elementary in Winston-Salem, N.C. In 2007, Meacham gave students in her class laptop computers with the help of Carolina Southern’s sponsorship. Meacham also has donated dictionaries, thesauruses, notebooks, pencils and erasers to the classroom.

Meacham, a Trucker Buddy since 2004, has generated an enormous amount of positive publicity through her work with the nonprofit. Meacham credits her actions to lessons learned from her father, a Baptist minister.

Each Trucker Buddy Driver of the Month receives a personalized jacket, along with a check for $300 to spend on the class and $200 in Trucker Buddy merchandise, compliments of program sponsor ACS MultiMedia. They also receive an IdleAire adaptor, a Koolatron cooler and a complete set of Airtabs for their tractor or trailer. Owner-operators receive a set of steer tires from Continental Tire. The class will receive a CrossCountry USA game from Ingenuity Works, which will help them learn more about how trucks move freight across the continent.
