Jeffrey Brashares, currently vice chairman for commercial sales for Pacer International — a non-asset based North America third-party logistics and freight transportation provider — has been promoted to chief operating officer for Pacer’s Logistics segment, effective immediately.

As part of his long career in intermodal transportation, Brashares in 1984 became a partner and president of Rail Van, an intermodal transportation company that in 2000 became part of Pacer. He also has headed Pacer’s retail rail transportation group. Brashares currently serves as a director of both the Intermodal Association of North America and the Transportation Intermediaries Association.

Mike Uremovich, chairman and chief executive officer for Concord, Calif.-based Pacer, says Brashares will be responsible for the operations of the logistics segment, which is marketed as the Pacer Logistics Portfolio, and its business units. The segment provides truck brokerage, trucking, warehousing and distribution, international freight forwarding and supply-chain management services directly to retailers and manufacturers.

Brashares succeeds Alex Munn, who has resigned to pursue other activities. “Pacer is truly fortunate to have a leader of Jeff Brashares’ rich experience and dedication to lead the Logistics segment,” says Uremovich, who thanked Munn for his service.
