Wal-Mart Stores has recognized Stevens Transport — a Dallas-based provider of time- and temperature-sensitive truckload service — as the recipient of the company’s annual “Grocery Carrier of the Year” award for the third consecutive year.

“Stevens Transport again exceeded with distinction our expectations during 2006.” says Tracy Rosser, vice president of Wal-Mart corporate traffic. “As a partner carrier, they enhance our core beliefs of respect for the individual, service to our customers and to always strive for excellence. For the third consecutive year, Stevens Transport rose above a continually changing and challenging freight environment to win our utmost trust and confidence. We thank them for a job well done.”

This year, Wal-Mart recognized 12 carriers for outstanding service in their respective categories. Some of those categories included Small Package Carrier of the Year, Intermodal Carrier of the Year, Rising Star Carrier of the Year and Innovative Carrier of the Year. Selection criteria for the award included overall dedication to customer service, operational excellence and the ability to offer creative solutions to supply chain opportunities.

“I want to thank Wal-Mart Stores for this further recognition and acknowledgement of our long-term and most rewarding partnership,” says Steven L. Aaron, chairman of the board for Stevens Transport. “My congratulations and thanks also go out to all our staff, especially our driver force, whose extraordinary efforts make it possible to achieve great things with distinguished customers like Wal-Mart Stores.”
