Averitt Express, a provider of freight transportation and supply chain management, has chosen the Global Locating System (GLS) trailer tracking technology from SkyBitz. Headquartered in Cookeville, Tenn., Averitt Express is initially deploying SkyBitz trailer tracking technology for the more than 4,000 trailers in its truckload fleet. Based on a successful implementation and return on investment, Averitt Express plans to implement the technology for its less-than-truckload and dedicated fleets.

Averitt Express is employing SkyBitz trailer tracking technology to improve productivity and equipment utilization by knowing where every trailer in the fleet is at any given moment.

“We completed a comprehensive ROI analysis for several trailer tracking providers, and we chose SkyBitz based on the cost of the units and installation costs,” said David Henry, director, System Design for Averitt Express. “We also chose SkyBitz because we feel its satellite tracking capabilities are superior to cellular.”
