Both Shaffer Trucking and Crete Carrier Corp. rodeo teams had success in this year’s Nebraska Truck Driving Championships. Shaffer’s Randall McDonald and John Hanamann will go on to the American Trucking Associations’ National Truck Driving Championships in Minneapolis, scheduled for Aug. 21-25. Crete’s David Kuscher won third place in the straight truck class.
The competition was held at the Midtown Holiday Inn and Fonner Park in Grand Island, Neb., on June 15-16. The drivers were scored on a written examination on the latest federal regulations, a pre-trip inspection, a personal interview and the driving competition. In order to compete, the drivers selected by their individual companies must have had an accident-free record for the past 12 months.
Crete was represented by Kuscher, Donald Clayton, Don Burianek, Scottie Clark, Thomas Jackson, Pat Quintana and Thomas Thomas. Shaffer was represented by McDonald, Hanamann, Charles Maly, Ralph Myers and Brandon Brosi.
