Stevens Transport — a Dallas-based provider of time- and temperature-sensitive truckload service — announced Tuesday, July 17, that it will be returning to Maptuit after a brief trial with an alternative directions provider. Stevens Transport also recently was recognized by General Mills for the third consecutive year as the recipient of the company’s annual “Temperature Controlled Carrier of the Year” award.
Return to Maptuit
Stevens once again will provide its drivers with FleetNav Directions, Maptuit’s solution for truck-to-dock, turn-by-turn directions. FleetNav’s highly sophisticated routing technology helps ensure driver safety and retention, improve fleet efficiencies, provide greater fuel savings and improve overall customer satisfaction, Maptuit says.
“We’ve come to realize that Maptuit’s true dynamic road network and accurate routing is extremely important to the success of our business and the safety of our drivers.” says Clay Aaron, president of Stevens Transport. “Our drivers were the number-one reason we made the strategic decision to go back to Maptuit – a decision that I fully supported, knowing that our drivers are, in fact, using the industry’s gold standard for truck routing. During this process, we’ve come to find out that all routing or navigation systems are not created equal.”
FleetNav Directions and Alerts is a subscription-based solution designed to integrate with all leading fleet management and mobile communications systems to provide a comprehensive transportation optimization solution. Maptuit says its FleetNav suite of tools provides trucking companies with a solution to help increase efficiencies and improve their bottom line through intelligent routing, fuel optimization and fleet monitoring capabilities. The tools are designed to allow back-office staff to manage customer locations and monitor fleet performance from any computer with Internet access.
“It goes without saying that we are very happy to have Stevens back with Maptuit,” says Jeff Papows, chief executive officer of Burlington, Mass.-based Maptuit. “I am particularly impressed with the commitment Stevens Transport has made in supporting their drivers and driver managers. In our business, you have to provide real-time information that has real impact on our customer’s bottom line. With their new investment in FleetNav, Stevens has made a clear choice in supporting their drivers and fleet managers by providing state-of-the-art fleet routing and management tools.”
General Mills recognition
Selection criteria for the General Mills award included overall dedication to customer service, operational excellence and the ability to offer creative solutions to supply chain opportunities. The award will be accepted by Todd Aaron, vice chairman of Stevens, on July 24.
“The outstanding service that has been provided by Stevens Transport, throughout General Mills’ 2007 fiscal year, helped alleviate much of the concern that was felt due to the difficulties seen throughout 2006,” says Jeff Bradley, General Mills director of logistics.
“I want to thank General Mills for this recognition and acknowledgement of our long-term and most rewarding partnership,” says Steven L. Aaron, chairman of the board for Stevens Transport. “My congratulations and thanks also go out to all our staff, especially our driver force, whose extraordinary efforts make it possible to achieve great things with distinguished customers like General Mills.”
