Greatwide Dedicated Transport – a national provider of non-asset-based transportation services – announced Tuesday, Aug. 7, that Gregory Orr has joined the company as vice president of operations. Greatwide says Orr brings substantial skills and expertise that will assist the company in developing and delivering highly productive, value-adding services to further support the company’s customers. Included in his past is experience in Manugistics routing technology, and RF-based order-filling and shipping.

“The Greatwide Dedicated Transport operations team is a critical link between shippers and their customers,” says Ray Greer, chief executive officer for Dallas-based parent company Greatwide Logistics Services. “Operations personnel help our owner-operators in moving commodities and finished products through the supply chain efficiently and effectively. Greg’s experience in transportation and logistics at Wal-Mart makes him of immeasurable value in delivering innovative solutions to operational challenges, while also helping us reduce costs for our customers.”

At Wal-Mart, Orr first served as a transportation operations manager, advancing through a series of positions of increasing responsibility for company and third-party fleet operations for the world’s largest retailer. Orr came to Greatwide following an assignment in the logistics unit of Schneider National, where he was responsible for the overall quality of business and financial operations associated with multiple clients with complex 3PL requirements. At Schneider, his job included on-boarding of new customers, customer relationship management, staffing and business planning.
