ArvinMeritor announced Thursday, Sept. 6, that it has added a new component to its portfolio of remanufactured components – trailer axles, initially targeted at North American intermodal motor carriers. Production began earlier this month at the company’s 270,000-square-foot facility in Plainfield, Ind.

“This is a natural expansion of our remanufactured offerings and builds on our company’s longtime trailer axle expertise,” says Doug Wolma, general manager of ArvinMeritor’s remanufacturing business. “The customers and end users recognize the value of our remanufactured components, and to offer trailer axles as part of our portfolio is fully complementary to our strong OE offerings.”

The remanufactured trailer axles, as with the other reman components, are produced according to strict, engineering-approved specifications, according to ArvinMeritor. The company says the axles have its full corporate resources behind them, both in terms of OE engineering and technical field support.
