West Motor Freight announced that it recently acquired the assets of Sanger Trucking, headquartered in Fredericksburg, Pa. West says the acquisition, which was finalized on Sept. 1, adds drivers and equipment and extends the reach of its flatbed business; 40 tractors will be added to West’s fleet, bringing its total number of tractors to 275.

West provides van and flatbed transportation services with a focus on shippers in the Middle Atlantic, New England and Midwestern states. West says it has doubled the size of its fleet since 2003 and currently offers services from five locations.

“Adding capacity allows us to be more responsive to our customers who recognize the value in this expansion,” says Bob Petruzzi, president of West Motor Freight. “We will continue to grow our fleet organically and, when the right opportunities exist, through acquisition. Sanger Trucking brings a professional team of drivers and customers, both of which merge well with our flatbed business.”

West will move the management of its flatbed business from its base in Boyertown, Pa., to Fredericksburg. The company will continue to operate its regional van business from Boyertown, and provide van and flatbed services through its agent partners. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
