Refuse collection equipment manufacturer Heil Environmental recently announced that it has promoted Bob McHugh to director of North American sales. McHugh – who has been with the Chattanooga, Tenn.-based company since 1990 – will supervise Heil’s regional managers, direct sales representatives, key account team and distributor network.

McHugh joined Heil as a product support manager, and then went on to serve as a product manager, regional sales manager, national account sales manager and quality/product engineering manager. In 2001, he assisted in leading a team to obtain ISO 9001:2000 certification – making Heil the first refuse collection vehicle manufacturer in the United States to do so. In 2002, McHugh was named operations manager of Parts Central, one of the world’s largest refuse collection vehicle replacement parts suppliers.

In May 2005, McHugh was promoted to the dual role of director of customer support and chief quality officer. In this position, he led the customer support center team and overall quality initiatives at Heil. Through his teams’ efforts, processes were installed to ensure a focused effort on quality initiatives aligned with customer requirements.
