The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently presented Carrier Corp. with its Best-of-the-Best Stratospheric Ozone Protection award, in recognition of the company’s achievements in helping restore the Earth’s protective ozone layer.
The awards presentation coincided with the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Montreal Protocol, which calls for a global elimination of ozone-depleting substances such as chlorofluorcarbons and hydrochlorofluorocarbons used in air-conditioning and refrigeration products.
Best-of-the-Best award nominees were evaluated by EPA staff and judged by an international panel representing industry, government and nongovernmental organizations.
