At the Iowa Motor Truck Association’s recent “Best of the Best” awards luncheon, Decker Truck Line received top honors for its outstanding safety record during 2006 and 2007, in the General Commodities Division (more than 10 million miles).

Jim Wilkins, vice president of safety and human resources for Fort Dodge-based Decker, accepted the award on behalf of the company at the Sept. 26 luncheon, held in conjunction with the IMTA Annual Management Conference in Coralville.

As an award winner, Decker was recognized for excellence in all areas of the judging criteria, including accident-free miles, superior safety ratings and an ongoing commitment to making safety a top priority. IMTA, Iowa Council of Safety Management and Great West Casualty Co., in cooperation with the American Trucking Associations, sponsor the contest to promote safety in the state of Iowa.

Also, Marcia Goodale, refrigerated/dry van dispatcher, was nominated for Dispatcher of the Year and received a recognition plaque. Goodale has been with Decker for more than five years and has 15 years overall experience in the trucking industry.
