Volvo Trucks North America announced today, Oct. 22, that it will continue its sponsorship in 2008 of America’s Road Team, the trucking industry’s best-known image and safety outreach program. Volvo is the sole sponsor of the program, which was founded 20 years ago by the American Trucking Associations.

America’s Road Team consists of a group of highly skilled, articulate professional truck drivers, each with an outstanding driving and safety record. Known as Road Team Captains, they are advocates for highway safety and ambassadors for the trucking industry. They speak on a regular basis to students, local and state officials, regulators, lawmakers, groups of truck drivers and the general public. They also speak with local and national media on highway safety and trucking-related issues.

“The Road Team Captains have helped promote a positive public opinion of our industry,” says Scott Kress, Volvo’s senior vice president of sales and marketing. “They have also tirelessly delivered the trucking industry’s safety message. We are honored and proud to once again sponsor America’s Road Team. The Road Team’s emphasis on safety perfectly complements Volvo’s determination to build the safest trucks for our customers and everyone else on the highway.”
