Carlsson named president of Volvo Trucks North America

Per Carlsson has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Volvo Trucks North America, the company announced Tuesday, Oct. 23. Carlsson, who today is responsible for Volvo Powertrain Sweden, will take up his new position on Jan. 1.

Carlsson, 47, previously has held various positions in the Volvo Group. Prior to his current position at Volvo Powertrain Sweden, he was chief financial officer at Volvo Trucks.

Carlsson is succeeding Peter Karlsten, who will take on the position as president and CEO of Volvo Powertrain, effective Dec. 1. Karlsten also will assume the role as senior vice president of technology for the Volvo Group and become a new member of the Group Executive Committee.

Lars Thoren, currently CFO, will assume the position as acting president of Volvo Trucks North America.
