Top Flite Express names O’Donnell VP

Top Flite Express – a Midwest regional carrier specializing in truckload, critical and high-value freight – on Wednesday, Oct. 24, announced the appointment of Mike O’Donnell as vice president. O’Donnell brings 28 years of experience – including operational and fiscal management expertise – to Top Flite Express, where he will guide the organization’s expansion and growth into new industries and markets.

Top Flite Express has demonstrated expertise in the automotive industry and is poised for expansion into the aerospace, high-tech, manufacturing, pharmaceutical and retail verticals, said Greg Humes, president of the Detroit-based company. “We are pleased to have Mike join the Top Flite Express team,” Humes says. “His business acumen and solid industry experience will be invaluable to the organization. Mike’s aggressive planning and execution of operational solutions will solidify the company’s strategic and financial health.”

Most recently, O’Donnell was vice president with Penske Logistics, where he served in 2007 and from 1997 to 2001; he managed the implementation of Ford’s North American inbound logistics network and managed the General Motors account. Prior to this, O’Donnell was vice president at Vector Supply Chain Management from 2001 to 2006, where he had operational responsibility for a $4.2 billion global logistics budget.

Previously, O’Donnell was director at TNT Logistics, a start-up venture selling and managing logistics solutions for Chrysler, Auto Alliance, and Church and Dwight. From 1988 to 1991, he was general manager at Ryder Logistics, where he implemented an initial North American inbound logistics network for Toyota Motor Manufacturing.
