Cadec Global, a provider of advanced fleet management solutions, announced today, Oct. 29, that it has promoted technology veteran Heimir Sverrisson to the newly created post of chief architect, responsible for driving product strategy and direction for Cadec’s fleet management platform. Sverrisson was formerly vice president of technology at Cadec.

“Heimir has had a tremendous impact on Cadec’s growth and success in the last year as he took on an active role in driving product direction,” says Michael Baney, chief executive officer of the Manchester, New Hampshire-based company. “As chief architect, he will have greater reign over long-term product strategy, and will also work closely with Cadec’s customers to ensure that our roadmap continues to meet their needs in the future. We’re very fortunate to have Heimir as part of our senior management team.”

Sverrisson joined Cadec in 2006 from Reykjavik University where he was an assistant professor in computer science and active in research in distributed computer systems, communications and operating systems. Prior to RU, Sverrisson served for seven years as CTO of Oracle distributor Teymi Inc., where he built the support and services organizations and technical infrastructure, and provided consulting for a wide variety of customers, including banks and the largest telecommunications companies in Iceland and Denmark. A founder of Teymi, Sverrisson helped grow the organization to more than 80 employees.

Before joining Teymi, Sverrisson owned a small software company specializing in complex, real-time communications systems and databases. Sverrisson also holds several technology patents and is a frequent speaker at technology industry conferences.
