International Truck and Engine Corp. recently presented Carl Nafzger with an International RXT Hauler at Churchill Downs for being the winning trainer of the 133rd Kentucky Derby.
The RXT Hauler – based on the medium-duty DuraStar – is a well-appointed truck designed specifically for customers in the horse market. It comes with a plush interior, including leather seats, thick pile carpet, GPS, a full-center console and an overhead LCD screen with DVD player.
The RXT Hauler has a custom bed that was designed specifically for use with the fifth-wheel trailers commonly used in the horse and RV industries. With a 310 HP MaxxForce engine and commercial hydraulic brakes, the RXT is capable of safely towing and stopping 10/ tons, according to the truck maker. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price of the RXT Hauler is $105,000.
This is the second year that an International RXT Hauler has been given to the winner of the Kentucky Derby. In 2006, International presented an RXT Hauler to the owners of Barbaro, the winner of the 132nd Kentucky Derby. This award reflects a growing commitment by the International to the equestrian industry.
In addition to being a corporate partner for Churchill Downs and America’s premier racing event, the Kentucky Derby, Warrenville, Ill.-based International has entered into a co-marketing relationship with Featherlite Trailers, the leading trailer manufacturer in the horse industry.
