FedEx and the Christmas Spirit Foundation launched their third annual Trees for Troops campaign in Columbus, Ohio, picking up 300 Christmas trees for delivery to service members and their families stationed overseas.

In the coming weeks, the campaign will donate and deliver about 20,000 trees to more than 35 bases in the United States and overseas.

The Christmas Spirit Foundation is the charitable branch of the National Christmas Tree Association. The association’s members will donate the trees, while FedEx will transport them. An international shipment will leave the FedEx Express hub in Indianapolis on Nov. 28.

In its first year, 2005, the campaign delivered 4,300 trees; in 2006, it delivered almost 12,000. This year, the public can participate by buying an extra tree for the troops at 40 retail locations nationally.
