Registration for the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) has begun at the Port of Tacoma, Wash., and soon will start at the Port of Seattle. TWIC is a credentialing program managed by the Department of Homeland Security through the Transportation Security Administration and enforced by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Pre-enrollment for the TWIC card is encouraged to avoid lines at the local enrollment centers. This can be done via the Internet or by calling toll-free at 866-347-8942. Cost of the TWIC card is $132.50 or $105.25 for MMD, HME or FAST card holders.

For Port of Tacoma enrollees, the Enrollment Center is located at the Fife Business Park, 5009 Pacific Highway East, Suite 17, Fife, WA. For the Port of Seattle, which expects to begin the enrollment process Dec. 21, the Enrollment Center location will be at Pier 90/91.
