The Information Technology & Logistics Council of the American Trucking Associations on Monday, Nov. 19, named J. Braxton Vick and Vicki L. Schluter to serve as the council’s first chair and vice chair in 2008.

Vick is senior vice president of corporate planning and development for Southeastern Freight Lines, a Lexington, S.C.-based truckload carrier. Schluter is vice president of information solutions for YRC Worldwide of Overland Park, Kan.

According to Vick, as new technologies – used to do everything from track freight to automate back-office systems – gain a foothold in daily trucking operations, industry executives must remain focused on forming standards and serving as a resource to other carriers. Vick says drawing more attention to the best technology and logistics operations in the industry is among his top priorities as ITLC chairman.

“Our vision is to provide a venue to discuss and learn leading-edge solutions to solve the technical and process problems facing the trucking and logistics industry,” Vick says. “Our focus will be on providing our members with information they can take back and put into practice.”

Vick and Schluter were introduced at the group’s board meeting. “The ITLC can be a great organization for standards and professional development for the motor carrier industry, and I am looking forward to helping develop it to its full potential,” Schluter says.

ATA’s ITLC is dedicated to supporting the interests of the trucking industry’s information technology and logistics professionals. ITLC is committed to educating members, developing industry best practices and technology guidelines, and providing legislative and regulatory advocacy programs.
