Petro Stopping Centers recently announced that it raised $106,108 for the children of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in October through the 16th annual Halloween Promotion.

During the promotion, employees at participating Petro Stopping Centers and Iron Skillet Restaurants asked patrons to make a $1 donation to St. Jude to support its fight against catastrophic childhood diseases. In return, the donors had the opportunity to write their names on pumpkin-themed pinups, which were displayed through the month of October.

“Petro is very proud to be partners with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in helping to save children’s lives,” says David McClure, marketing director for El Paso, Texas-based Petro Stopping Centers. “Our participation in the annual pumpkin promotion allows us the opportunity to do something good for the children in our community, as well as children in communities all over the world.”

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is recognized internationally for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, Tenn., St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities throughout the world. No family ever pays for treatments not covered by insurance, and families without insurance never are asked to pay. St. Jude is supported financially by ALSAC, its fund-raising organization.
