Steve Bassett, president of General Truck Sales of Muncie, Ind., has ben named Dealer of the Year for Volvo Trucks North America. Bassett is also the dealer principal of General Truck Sales and is vice chairman of the Volvo Trucks Dealer Council.
Bassett has been dealer principal for 17 years. His father, Larry, purchased General Truck Sales in 1974. The dealership, which will mark its 50th anniversary in 2008, has 45 employees and is noted for its stability in employment; the average employee has been with General Truck Sales for 12 years.
Bassett has been active in the Muncie community, serving as chairman of the local Rotary Club, Junior Achievement and Jaycees organizations, in addition to serving on other local boards.
In addition to honoring Bassett, the award from Volvo honors each dealership’s entire organization and its employees for overall accomplishment and performance. The award is based upon a number of factors, including new truck sales, parts sales, financial performance and customer satisfaction scores.
General Truck Sales offers customers sales of new and used trucks, parts and service departments, a paint and body shop, and full-service lease and rental operations.
