AxleTech International — a global manufacturer of axles, suspensions, brakes and aftermarket parts for off-highway vehicles — recently announced it will begin producing original equipment aftermarket products for on-highway commercial and specialty vehicle needs.

“We are investing in this opportunity and are committed to making AxleTech’s Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket group a cornerstone of our future success,” says Mary Petrovich, chief executive officer for the Troy, Mich.-based company.

Customers now will have a choice for original equipment aftermarket products for their driveline and undercarriage needs, the company says. Products include a selection of axle, driveline, brake and wheelend products. The initial targeted applications include heavy truck, bus and coach, as well as specialty vehicles.

“This is a logical extension of our success in the off-highway markets, given the commonality of our off-highway products with the requirements of the on-highway commercial vehicle market,” says Bill Gryzenia, vice president of aftermarket business development.

AxleTech’s Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket group will be headed by Tina Alread, a 20-year veteran in the heavy-duty industry who recently joined the company from Federal Mogul.
