Celadon Trucking Services Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Celadon Group Inc., announced Thursday, Oct. 2, that a judgment of $1.5 million was rendered on Sept. 30 in a jury trial in Ellis County, Texas. The award related to a lane change accident that occurred in July 2006.

“Although the injuries to plaintiffs, Mr. Ronny Martinez and Mr. Kenneth O’Neal, are regrettable, the jury found that Mr. Martinez, who was driving the car, was partly responsible for causing the accident,” said Steve Russell, chairman and chief executive officer of Indianapolis-based Celadon.

“Celadon does not hire trainee drivers, and has a very high safety standard relating to its drivers,” Russell said. “We have won numerous national and regional safety awards. We are reviewing the jury verdict, and are considering our options regarding an appeal of the decision.”
