East adds Genesis II floor technology to frame-type dump trailers

Smooth-bottom Genesis II floor technology now is available on frame-type dump trailers from East Manufacturing. The smooth bottom, designed to improve the trailer’s aerodynamic performance while simplifying maintenance, helps eliminate exposed cross-members where ice, mud and snow can build up. It also provides for more efficient airflow, promoting less drag and lower fuel consumption, according to East.

The Genesis II floor is a patented design that is stronger than the traditional cross member-supported design it replaces. The floor panel extrusions have internal stiffeners designed to efficiently support trailer loads. They are also made of an aluminum alloy that is stronger and more wear-resistant, the company says; in addition, the “hollow” extruded floor panel design provides improved insulation opportunities to reduce the likelihood of loads freezing in the trailer.

Built into the Genesis II design is additional trailer protection from adverse weather conditions; electrical wiring and airlines are almost completely enclosed and virtually unexposed to the elements. The floor design also allows a unitized wall-floor construction, which helps improve the torsional stiffness of the trailer, reducing twisting during dumping and increasing dump stability and driver safety.
