Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. announced the opening of a new container drayage operation in Huntsville, Ala. Old Dominion says the new location will benefit its customers for both their import and export needs, and is in reaction to customer requests to expand its network in the Huntsville area.

The less-than-truckload carrier says the new operation will serve the Port of Huntsville, an international intermodal center serving north central Alabama and the surrounding states. The purpose of the operation is to move ocean-going containers to and from the Huntsville Intermodal Center.

This is the 11th container drayage operation in the Old Dominion Container Drayage network. Old Dominion also has container drayage operations in Atlanta; Charlotte, N.C.; Chicago; Salt Lake City; Los Angeles/Long Beach; Jacksonville, Fla.; Savannah, Ga.; Charleston, S.C.; Wilmington, N.C.; and Norfolk, Va. The Thomasville, N.C.-based company says it plans to open addition locations in the near future.
