Bay & Bay Transportation recently launched an asset-based logistics division called Bay & Bay Transportation Services. Bay & Bay also announced its recent approval as a carrier for the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. General Services Administration.

Alan Smith, senior vice president of BBTS, heads the new division, based out of Nashville, Tenn. Smith is a 30-year industry veteran with extensive dual experience in transportation and the business/technology arena. The BBTS operations center is located in Janesville, Wis.

“We offer the personalized service of a smaller carrier, paired with the tremendous technology, experience and network capabilities of a large operation,” says Sam Anderson, president of Minneapolis-based Bay & Bay.

Bay & Bay’s approval as a government carrier allows the company to provide standard and specialty loads throughout the United States, Anderson says. “A significant part of our company’s future growth will focus on expanding government areas where we’re already established, and adding new specialty areas,” he says.
