Trucking software provider Profit Tools recently introduced Mobile Office, a mobile computing system designed to deliver document transfer and print capabilities to drivers on the road. Mobile Office, or MO, enables users to communicate more efficiently between the truck and the office and links readily with existing systems, according to the company.

MO aims to increase driver productivity while reducing administrative time in the office, the company says; drivers can identify documents sent in from the field so that administrative staff receives organized information that can interface easily with existing operations management software, while MO’s combination of ruggedized hardware and easy-to-use software developed by Profit Tools provide an affordable in-cab alternative to scan kiosks, express-shipping documents or waiting for documents to come back with the truck.

“Our customers asked us for an affordable in-cab scan and print solution that would link smoothly with their back-end systems,” says Brian Widell, president of Lee, N.H.-based Profit Tools. “It didn’t exist, so we created MO. MO software allows for driver identification of documents and optional administrative review, followed by automatic linking into TMS, imaging and workflow systems. It’s a much-needed tool to speed billing cycles and reduce administrative costs.”

MO’s components — a portable laptop, scanner and full-page printer inside a portable, rugged case — are designed for mobility and ease of use. MO comes preconfigured and with pre-installed software designed by Profit Tools for fast and efficient document transfer and printing. It can work independently or in conjunction with various onboard mobile communications systems, phones or handheld devices.
