Xata Corp., a provider of fleet optimization software and services, announced that Eby-Brown — the largest privately-owned tobacco, candy and convenience distributor in the United States — has migrated its fleet optimization platform to Xatanet, Xata’s flagship fleet operations solution.

Xata also is providing implementation and training services to facilitate a smooth adoption of the solution. Additionally, Eby-Brown has purchased color displays for future Xatanet functionality, such as in-cab navigation.

“Eby-Brown is a valued customer,” says David Gagne, executive vice president of field operations for Minneapolis-based Xata Corp. “We are pleased they have chosen Xatanet as they migrate their fleet optimization platform from OpCenter, Xata’s legacy platform. Their ROI from the enhanced functionality of Xatanet should be realized quickly as they roll out the platform across their fleet.”

Headquartered in Naperville, Ill., Eby-Brown is a convenience-store supplier and wholesale food distributor of more than 11,000 name-brand products. Eby-Brown currently maintains a fleet of about 350 vehicles, with 12,000 retail locations in 28 states.

“The tools provided by Xatanet are invaluable toward increasing fleet safety, fuel efficiency and customer service,” says Sean Jones, vice president of transportation for Eby-Brown. “Xata has proven their commitment to us as a technology supplier. They are an excellent business partner, and we’re glad to have our trucks enabled with Xatanet.”

Xata says its Web-based on-demand Xatanet software provides customers with a robust fleet optimization system, giving fleet managers access to accurate real-time data that encompasses all aspects of a customer’s delivery operations. For more information, go to www.xata.com.
