Schneider National announced Monday, Nov. 10, it has been named to G.I. Jobs’ list of Top 50 Military-Friendly Employers for the third consecutive year; the Green Bay, Wis.-based company ranked No. 13. J.B. Hunt announced that it ranked 14th overall and is the only Arkansas-based company to make the listing.

The sixth annual Top 50 Military-Friendly Employers List recognizes the best of the best in veteran hiring efforts among companies earning more than $1 billion in annual revenues. The entrants are evaluated on criteria including assets dedicated to military recruiting, the percentage of new hires with prior military service, veteran training programs and company policies toward National Guard and Reserve service. Of the 2,500 corporations eligible, just 2 percent made this year’s list.

“We are honored to be named a top military-friendly employer by G.I. Jobs for three years running,” says Mike Hinz, vice president of driver recruitment at Schneider National and a former member of the U.S. Army. “These associates are second to none when it comes to exemplifying our core values of safety, integrity, respect and excellence. We’re proud to have them on the Schneider team and equally proud to offer them programs and benefits that guarantee their career success.” Hinz says about 25 percent of all Schneider associates have a military background – including 20 percent of senior leadership – and that a full 26 percent of Schneider drivers have military experience.

“In the military, our troops learn how to define a mission, develop a plan, apply resources and execute the plan with superior leadership skills,” says Rick McCormack, G.I. Jobs publisher. “This real-world experience solving complex problems at such a young age makes our veterans hot commodities to corporate America. And it’s why our Top 50 employers have put their military hiring programs into overdrive.”

J.B. Hunt says it offers some of the best jobs in the transportation industry, with competitive compensation packages and full benefits, including medical, dental and 401(k) retirement plans. “Our nation’s military personnel go beyond the normal call of duty each and every day to protect our country, both domestically and abroad,” says Kirk Thompson, president and chief executive officer of J.B. Hunt. “It is a tremendous honor to have these highly trained and skilled individuals as part of the J.B. Hunt family. We are extremely proud to have their commitment and ours recognized as part of the G.I. Jobs Top 50 list for the third year in a row.”
