Haldex Commercial Vehicle Systems has announced that its ModulX DB22LT disc brake now is available on Hendrickson axles. Haldex says that by transitioning to the ModulX DB22LT, there is a 37-pound weight savings per axle versus the previous model.

According to the company, the air disc brake slides on four stainless steel slide pins, providing a more compact, stable design than the standard two-pin design. The stainless steel pins are designed to increase corrosion resistance and require no lubrication. Two tappets distribute brake pad clamping force equally to ensure even wear, resulting in longer service life and lower maintenance costs, Haldex says.

DB22LT is an optimized disc brake design engineered specifically for common heavy-duty applications, according to the company; it saves about 18.6 pounds per brake over the previous ModulX brake package.

ModulX is designed to be less sensitive to speed and temperature variation common in any extreme grade or demanding brake application, providing more consistent, dependable performance. Efficient and responsive in the most demanding braking applications, ModulX does not suffer from significant hysteresis and deflection, Haldex says; braking force is applied more equally to all wheels, providing greater control and stability.
