FedEx announced rate increases effective Jan. 5. FedEx Express package and freight rates will increase by an average of 6.9 percent for U.S. and U.S. export services; the rate increase will be offset partially by adjusting the fuel price at which the fuel surcharge begins, reducing the fuel surcharge by 2 percentage points.

Also effective Jan. 5, FedEx Ground and FedEx Home Delivery rates will increase by an average of 5.9 percent.

The company also said it will change FedEx Retail Counter rates, FedEx Express U.S. import rates, FedEx Express U.S. rates to Puerto Rico and FedEx International Premium rates, but that there will be changes to FedEx International Priority and FedEx International Economy minimum rates.

FedEx also announced that effective March 2, FedEx First Overnight service will be available from Hawaii, and it also will be available to Alaska.
