J.J. Keller & Associates announced that it has awarded six scholarships to students participating in the KellerOnline University Program. Students at schools participating in the University Program were eligible to participate in the contest for a chance to receive a portion of the $10,000 in scholarship monies being awarded.

University of Wisconsin – Whitewater student Nathan Yaun was awarded a $5,000 scholarship. After spending time in Afghanistan doing construction work and demining large parts of the country, he realized the important role that safety plays in helping people return home to their families each night unharmed. “Being a safety professional will put me in the right place to work with company leaders to ensure that people work safely and get home to their families,” Yaun says. “When the strong safety culture of a workplace reaches into the home, as safety professionals we have the ability to create a generation of safer people.”

Five $1,000 scholarships were awarded to Celina Cooper, University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire; Andrew Glass, Indiana University of Pennsylvania; Kasey Nussmeier, Murray State University; Leah Sallee, Murray State University; and Jordan Wexler, Murray State University.

“The winners of this year’s KellerOnline University Program Scholarships are dedicated to the safety profession, have a strong understanding of the challenges they may face, and understand the significant impact that they can have on the organizations in which they might work,” says Rustin Keller, corporate Internet products manager for the Neenah, Wis.-based company. “J.J. Keller continues to be committed to the industries which it serves.”

The KellerOnline University Program is a free program offered by J.J. Keller that provides professors and students with access to reference materials, safety-specific interactive tools and applications, and valuable industry information. The program is another tool for professors to further enhance their curriculum and a resource for students in attaining their degree.
