Actron describes its Rustenz Rust Preventing Capsule as a portable corrosion protection capsule that protects items from rust by creating an invisible shield around objects for up to two years. Rustenz is designed to protect tools, metal and electrical components by creating an invisible, odorless, nontoxic, nonflammable blanket of protection around objects within a two-foot radius of the capsule.

Developed using proprietary Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) technology, the Rustenz capsule emits corrosion-inhibiting molecules into an enclosure, protecting all exposed metal surfaces with a tin protective layer that prevents reactions on the surface that cause rust and corrosion, according to the company; the microscopic layer is a few molecules thick and will not affect the electrical or mechanical properties or functionality of the components that it protects.

Actron says the Rustenz capsule — suited for tool boxes, cabinets, tackle boxes, safes and other enclosures where items prone to oxidization are stored — protects items made from steel, iron, brass, copper, aluminum, silver, nickel and other materials. According to the company, Rustenz is applied easily by simply placing the adhesive backing on an area within two feet of the items to be protected; for complete protection, the capsule can be installed in an enclosed space with the items to be protected.

Rustenz can be used in commercial, industrial or at-home settings, the company says. For more information, go to www.actron.com.
