Daimler Trucks North America has recognized fifth wheel manufacturer Fontaine International with the 2007 Masters of Quality Award as one of DTNA’s top suppliers. The annual award is the highest recognition DTNA gives its North American suppliers.

Daimler representative Alfredo Carsolio Larrea, material logistics and purchasing manager for Daimler Vehiculos Comerciales Mexico, presented the award on Nov. 20 during a companywide ceremony at Fontaine’s manufacturing facility in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico.

“Receiving the Masters of Quality Award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of every Fontaine International employee,” says Tracy Click, executive vice president of Irondale, Ala.-based Fontaine International. “It recognizes the commitment to excellence and continuous improvement shared by every one of us.”

The Masters of Quality program recognizes suppliers who meet or exceed Daimler’s strict standards and demonstrate ongoing commitment to quality improvement. Roger Nielsen, DTNA’s chief operating officer, calls the Masters of Quality Award winners “role models for our entire supplier base.” This is the fifth year Fontaine has earned the award.

Fontaine provides a wide range of fifth wheels to DTNA for its Freightliner brand of trucks. Fontaine fifth wheels manufactured in Matamoros are shipped to all of Freightliner’s truck manufacturing plants in the United States and Mexico.
