EBE Technologies, a provider of business process management solutions for the transportation and logistics industry, announced the decoupling of its dynamic workflow applications from its document imaging solution. Transportation & logistics companies can now gain the advantages an enterprise process management solution without replacing their legacy document imaging systems, the company says.

The co-existing workflow functionality provides an opportunity for companies to both extend the value of its existing imaging investments and, at the same time, provide a disaster recovery system by storing images in both the legacy imaging system and EBE’s disaster recovery server (DRS). A requirement for EBE’s software to co-exist with a legacy imaging system is the legacy system must have a file import function built into its solution.

“Most imaging systems are utilized in the billing and settlement departments. Our workflows stretch beyond financials to include recruiting, logistics, safety, driver performance, maintenance and data entry. Through this co-existing workflow strategy, EBE applications can now extend throughout the enterprise, to reduce labor and operating costs, enhance customer service and improve the decision making process while protecting its legacy imaging solution investment,” said Larry Kerr, president of EBE.

The Disaster Recovery Offering complements the co-existing workflow strategy, Kerr says. The DRS application backfills index data from the dispatch system and archives the documents according to application requirements and retentions schedules. Should the legacy imaging system fail, the company simply needs to re-configure the licensing and the DRS application becomes the primary production system. This process may be accomplished in a matter of hours- insuring minimal disruption to cash flow and driver compensation.
